November 14, Fundy Erratics Hike, Kejimkukik National ParkLeave Digby by 8:30 AM and travel to Kejimkujik National Park, 3005 Main Parkway, Maitland Bridge. After entering the park, follow the Main Parkway to the end of the pavement at Grafton Lake where there is a parking lot.
10 AM start at the Park (Grafton Lake). We will have lunch at Peter Point beach. Wear sturdy footwear, bring water, snacks and lunch. Hiking poles are helpful. Pit toilets are available, bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
Hike Description.
From the Grafton Lake Parking lot, hike along the Eel Weir Road to Peter Point Trail. Hike to the beach at the end. Return to the parking lot. Hike the lower Grafton Woods Trail, a little 1.6 km loop. Total hike, moderate rating, approximately 10 km total.
Lots of variety on this hike: along the Peter Point Trail, a diversity of habitats, red and sugar maple and hemlock. There is a significant slate outcrop and secluded sandy beach that opens up onto the lake. The Grafton Woods Loop features gnarled beeches and a boardwalk over a bog.
