Join DC Sake cō in celebration of World Sake Day for our 5th Annual Kanpai! to Sake Day in D.C. on Sunday, October 4th at Love, Makoto in Washington, D.C.
World Sake Day marks the traditional beginning of Japan’s sake brewing season and celebrates the history, craftsmanship, and culture behind Japan’s national beverage. This year’s Kanpai! to Sake Day brings that celebration to D.C. with an afternoon featuring 100+ sakes from Japan and the U.S., bites from Love, Makoto, and opportunities to meet sake makers and industry professionals while discovering the people and stories behind the bottles.
The celebration runs from 12:00–4:00 PM, with General Admission tickets priced at $108, including Love, Makoto’s service fee.
Two special VIP experiences will also be offered. VIP Session I (11:00 AM–12:00 PM) features Kosuke Kuji, fifth-generation president of Nanbu Bijin Sake Brewery, for an intimate tasting and conversation exploring the brewery’s 120+ year history and sake. VIP Session II (2:00–3:00 PM) features renowned sake sommelier and educator Chris Johnson, “The Sake Ninja,” who will guide guests through a curated tasting while sharing stories and insights from nearly three decades in the sake industry.
*Both VIP tickets include full access to the General Admission tasting.
