The Legal Mobilization Platform, Crisis, Politics and Law Academic Team, and the Association of Students of African Heritage (ASAH) of Erasmus University Rotterdam invite you to join us at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague for the launch of two books, Radical Justice by Nani Jansen Reventlow and Legal Mobilization by Jeff Handmaker.
How can we challenge inequality and pursue social change amid growing injustice, political uncertainty and systemic crises?
What can law offer social justice struggles that are confronting these challenges, and what can academia and activism learn from one another?
This book launch brings Nani Jansen Reventlow and Jeff Handmaker into conversation with each other, with two invited panelists - both former EUR students and active on social justice causes and community care outside their studies - and with the audience about their recent books, and to share their experiences across the domains of academic research, legal practice and political activism.
They will explore the possibilities and limitations of using law to challenge power, the connections between scholarship and collective action, and how there are opportunities, both for legal learning and for leveraging systemic change.
Invited panelists
- Timotho Toto, Former Board Member of ASAH
- Abenaa Quednau, Former Board Member of ASAH
Moderator
- Sarah Njoroge, Science Communicator, ISS
The event welcomes academics, practitioners, activists, students and anyone else interested in inequality, law and social change.
