About this Event

JULIE SEVILLA DRAKE: HOW TO LOVE THIS WORLD

December 1, 2026 – January 2, 2027

Textile Art Gallery NYC presents How to Love This World, an exhibition of quilts and mixed media works by Julie Sevilla Drake exploring the beauty of both joy and loss.

Created in her studio on Fidalgo Island, Washington, Drake's art meanders between the wilderness of the natural world and the mayhem of humanity.

Julie Sevilla Drake uses unexpected colors, expressive shapes, untamed linework and richly textured surfaces to make art that examines a world that can be beautiful, absurd, troubling, and deeply moving, sometimes all at once.

How to Love This World is both a celebration and a question. What does it mean to love a world whose beauty and darkness are so thoroughly intertwined?

Opening Reception: Wednesday, December 2, 3–6 PM

Join Julie Sevilla Drake to celebrate the opening of How to Love This World at Textile Art Gallery NYC.
