About this Event
Hosted by the YWCA of Asheville’s Racial Justice Department
The YWCA of Asheville’s Racial Justice Department warmly invites you to join us for a Joy & Justice Book Club Lunch & Learn and Community Talkback featuring Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.
Together, we’ll create space for meaningful conversation, reflection, and community connection as we explore the history of racism, the importance of antiracism, and how we can each contribute to building a more just and equitable world.
Join us for an engaging discussion where community members can share perspectives, deepen their understanding, and learn alongside one another in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
A meal prepared by the YWCA’s Nutrition Department will be provided to all attendees.
Optional Virtual Book Discussion
Want to dive a little deeper before our community gathering? Join us for an optional, intimate virtual book discussion to explore the larger themes of Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You and consider how we can each apply the knowledge and insights that Reynolds and Kendi share throughout the text.
This virtual gathering will offer space for thoughtful dialogue, deeper reflection, and meaningful conversation about how we can use what we learn to advance antiracism in our everyday lives, relationships, and communities.
Date: Wednesday, October 28, 2026
Time: 5:30–6:30 PM
Location: Virtual (Zoom Link)
Whether you’re looking to unpack the book’s central ideas in greater depth or connect with others who are committed to learning and growth, this optional discussion is an opportunity to prepare for our November community conversation.
