Journalist and author Joey D'Urso talks about his new book - how football shirts explain global politics, money and power.About this Event
Joey D'Urso is a journalist and author covering football, and how it explains politics and history. He spent 10 years working as a journalist for BBC News, The Times and the Athletic before going freelance to focus on YouTube, Substack and Instagram.
His first book, More Than a Shirt, explores how football shirts, the sport's greatest means of social expression, reflect the social values, financial struggles and political ideologies of the day, as geopolitical issues increasingly seep into every aspect of the game. It has been named a Waterstones and Guardian sports book of the year and has been shortlisted for two major awards.
