About this Event

Hey downtown creatives,

Come out and experience the pulse of the night market with me, surrounded by the smell of sizzling skewers and the sounds of live street disco. We're going to spend a little over an hour doing quick, app-guided conversations to break the ice, and then we'll group up to hunt down the best local bites together.

We're kicking off the evening with one-on-one rounds to get the introductions flowing easily. The Gist IRL app takes the guesswork out of mingling by pairing you up, so you always know exactly who you're chatting with next. Once we wrap up those quick conversations, you get to choose the people you vibed with most. From there, we'll head into the night market together to grab street food, catch the live disco, and explore the art exhibits.

By the end of the hour, you are weaving through the glowing block party and sharing night market bites with a crew you actually click with. Whether these folks become your monthly First Thursdays street food crew or it just turns out to be a really vibrant evening in the city, you'll be in great company.

The Plan:

- 6:00PM: Check-In. Follow the link to set up your quick profile on your phone. - 6:05PM - 7:25PM: One-on-One Rounds. The app pairs you for focused chats. Find out who shares your creative side projects, favorite downtown haunts, and love for street food. - 7:25PM+: Form Groups. Reconnect with your favorite matches, form groups of 4-6, and head out together to grab street food and check out the street disco and exhibits. Your group leaves together tonight.

Let's skip the typical routine of wandering a packed festival solo or trading LinkedIn contacts with someone you never see again. This is about taking action tonight to actually grab street food with new people, and maybe discovering the friends who will join you for future night markets, gallery walks, and downtown block parties. And when the night wraps up, you can keep the conversation going through the app without ever needing to exchange phone numbers.

I'm so excited to explore the stalls and share some amazing food with you all tonight.

A few favorite spots nearby: Downtown First Thursdays (2nd Street) - This free monthly evening block party between Market and Howard features an eclectic lineup of food trucks, street food stalls, live art exhibits, and an open-air street disco beneath a giant mirror ball. The Bird - Just two blocks away on New Montgomery, this bustling counter-serve joint turns out crispy berbere-spiced fried chicken sandwiches and curly fries perfect for a quick, satisfying group bite. Street Taco - Situated on New Montgomery Street, this fast-casual outpost dishes up authentic Mexico City-style street tacos pressed on fresh handmade tortillas alongside refreshing aguas frescas. 111 Minna Gallery - Anchoring the Minna alleyway along the block party route, this vibrant venue combines rotating contemporary art exhibits with relaxed indoor and outdoor gathering spaces to chat. Yerba Buena Gardens - Located directly across from Jessie Square, this expansive green space offers tranquil terrace benches and seating by the waterfall memorial where a group can eat takeout under the open sky.
