About this Event
5-6pm Join South Shore Conservatory at the Art Complex Museum for an afternoon of jazz celebrating musical talent across generations! Led by acclaimed jazz pianist and SSC faculty member Jeff Williams, the program features a performance by SSC's Adult Jazz Combo, along with two solo jazz piano performances showcasing an adult musician and a talented 14-year-old pianist. From emerging young artists to lifelong music lovers, experience the joy of jazz and the power of music to bring generations together.
6-7pm Ken opens with a short talk, "Strange Meaning: What Can Scholars Rocks Tell Us About the Future of Art?", tracing the history of scholars rock aesthetics and offering his speculation on where the future of human art may lie in the age of generative AI. Lisa then shares the inspiration and process behind her own Fortune Cookie Scrolls, featured in the exhibition Interpreting the Natural: Contemporary Visions of Scholars Rocks, before the two come together in conversation about Daoism, scholars rocks, and how these ideas surface in Lisa's exhibited work.
