About this Event
Are you in search of a calming and creative activity for a moment to slow down, become presentand engage in traditional Japanese art and philosophy? Complemented with green tea,Japanese sweets and sake, this could be the workshop for you.
Sumi-e (soo-mee-ay) is a traditional art form of Japanese painting using black ink and a fude(foo-deh) brush which is a Japanese calligraphy brush. With these you will learn the meditativepractice of painting the ensō circle and the four virtues: the blossom, orchid, bamboo and thechrysanthemum, whilst inviting the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi.
You will develop a series of paintings to take away with you to frame or gift as postcards. Then you will proceed to glaze your bisqueware (choose from a bowl or plate) with the minimalisticbut elegant ensō circle to complete your symbolic piece of pottery.
This painting workshop is perfect for both beginners and experienced artists. The studio environment provides a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, offering both creative inspiration and positive surroundings.
