We're kicking off 2027 with brilliant books, big conversations and a bottomless brunch by the water. January resolutions come and go, but good books and great friendships? We're keeping those.

This month we're reading The Correspondent by Virginia Evans, a beautifully moving novel about love, loss, friendship and the power of the written word.

Whether you're a seasoned book clubber or haven't picked up a novel in months, you're very welcome here. Come solo, bring a friend or make some new ones!

Meet Sybil Van Antwerp. Seventy-three years old, fiercely independent, wonderfully opinionated and a lifelong letter writer.

Through decades of correspondence, from heartfelt confessions and everyday observations to long-held secrets and unfinished conversations, we piece together the extraordinary life of a woman who has always found comfort in the written word.

A story about love, loss, friendship, forgiveness and the connections that shape us, The Correspondent reminds us that sometimes putting pen to paper is the bravest thing we can do.

Expect plenty to discuss, a few emotional moments and possibly a newfound urge to invest in some very fancy stationery.

We're bringing a little Australian sunshine to London this January!

Nestled beside the canal in Paddington Basin, Bondi Green is a vibrant Australian-inspired restaurant known for its gorgeous waterside setting, colourful interiors and seriously good brunch.

We'll be settling in for a delicious bottomless brunch featuring a sweet and savoury dish, accompanied by 90 minutes of free-flowing fizz.

It's the perfect setting for an afternoon of excellent food, flowing drinks and even better company.

Can't make brunch? No problem! Join us online for the full book discussion from wherever you fancy.

A few things to know:

• Our online discussion is open to everyone, while our in-person brunch is a welcoming space for women (cis and trans), non-binary people and the LGBTQ+ community.
• Brunch attendees will need to confirm their food and drink choices and complete any required pre-payment one week before the event.
• Tickets are refundable up to seven days before the event via Eventbrite.
• Our discussion is spoiler-friendly, so we recommend finishing the book beforehand.
• Online joining details and discussion information will be shared during the week of the event.
