Join Cedar Rapids Independent Filmmakers (CRIFm) for a one-night-only theatrical showcase at Whipple Auditorium, celebrating the completed short films made during the inaugural Iowa 55-Hour FilmSprint!On Nov 6th-8th, local filmmakers embark on the ultimate creative marathon: writing, filming, and editing original 3-6 minute short films, in just 55 hours using secret elements (genre, prop, character/occupation, line of dialogue, and an Iowa-related element) revealed at the beginning of the event.
One week later, their finished films hit the big screen, and YOU help decide who wins the Audience Choice Award

What to Expect:
🍿 Big-Screen Showcase: Watch every completed film created during the 55-hour race on Whipple Auditorium's cinema screen.
🗳️ Audience Choice Voting: Every ticket holder gets a vote. Pick for your favorite short and help send a local filmmaking team to the 2027 Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival!
🏆 Live Awards & Cash Prizes: We will hand out trophies for Best Film, Runner-Up, Audience Pick and individual category awards certificates (Directing, Cinematography, Writing, Acting/cast, and Use of Secret Elements).
📸 Mingling & Filmmaker Pics: Meet local filmmakers, snap photos at the step-and-repeat, and connect with Eastern Iowa's vibrant creative community.
🕠 The Schedule:
- 5:30pm: Doors open, filmmaker step-and-repeat photos, and seating.
- 6:00pm: Screening begins (all completed films shown back-to-back).
- 7:30pm: Audience Choice voting & brief intermission.
- 7:45pm: Awards ceremony & announcement of the CRIFF 2027 Official Selections.
- 8:00pm: Closing remarks and post-event mixing.
(All ticket proceeds benefit future indie film programming and community initiatives presented by Cedar Rapids Independent Filmmakers).
