Carmel Doohan's novel Seesaw (CB editions) is described as 'endlessly surprising' and 'provocative' in the Times Literary Suplement and 'inteligent' and 'unexpected' in The Scotsman. It is a novel of fragments, mixing memoir, fiction and nonfiction.
Carmel's second novel 'SOUP' - a mix of social history and speculative fiction - will be published in 2027. She also writes and edits creative nonfiction.
She has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow, where she taught English Literature. She taught Creative Writing and Modernism at the University of Edinburgh (SUISS) and was Visiting Lecturer in Creative Nonfiction the University of Wolverhampton.
