About this Event
Welcome to the Bridgeport Machine for Beginners class! During this class, you will learn the basics of operating the tool, including end mills and slot milling, conventional and climb milling operations, using an edge finder, and hole spotting and boring. You will leave here with knowledge of the terminology, machine steps, and machine care information. This will also be a highly hands-on course where you will learn how to run the machine, set up your work, select the proper cutters' feeds and speeds, ensure you produce it reasonably accurately, and create a simple project you can take home.
What is it? A Bridgeport milling machine is a versatile cutting tool that can perform various tasks, including milling, drilling, and boring. The machine removes material from a workpiece by rotating a cutting tool at high speed and moving it into the workpiece.
Who will use it? A Bridgeport mill can handle the job if you are shaping, cutting, and drilling metal parts with high precision, whether you're fabricating custom parts or repairing existing components.
When to use it: The rotating turret, movable ram, Z-axis movement from the knee and quill, and tilting head allow machinists to cut almost anything: milling, facing, drilling, tapping, boring, reaming, and angle cuts are some of the standard applications of a Bridgeport mill.
