Have you always been curious about what it is like to use a pottery wheel? Or perhaps you took a pottery class in high school and/or college and have been dying to sink your fingers back into clay ever since. Look no further! No prior experience needed for this 2-hour introduction to working on the pottery wheel. We focus on creating a relaxing and memorable experience as we slowly walk through each step of the process. We begin by preparing the clay with a technique called wedging. This process will set us up for success once we jump onto the wheel! After preparing our clay, the instructor will provide a demonstration of the five main steps we go through when throwing a piece of pottery on the wheel. Students will then be guided step-by-step through each skill, and provided hands-on-corrections as needed.
Each student will be provided 2 balls of clay to practice with throughout the class. Students will select their favorite piece to be fired and glazed at the conclusion of the class. If students would like to fire and glaze their second piece there is a $20 fee.
Bisque fired pieces will be available to paint within 2 weeks of the class completion date.
Those that elect to have their pots dip glazed will have their fully finished pieces ready for pick up within 3 weeks of the class completion date.
Shipping of finished pieces is available for $12
