This is a guitar building workshop for absolute beginners, no experience necessary! Over the duration of the workshop our facilitators (Trevor, Tim and Kate) will help you build your own electric guitar.You will learn about (and do) sanding, filing, drilling, oiling, shaping, soldering, stringing and tuning your guitar. Plus much much more!
Small class of six attendees maximum.
This workshop is suitable for left and right handed people – we have both types of guitars, so let us know which you prefer.
Your Facilitators:
Trevor was a teacher at a girls high schools for more than 30 years, teaching students (and other teachers) the joy of building guitars, until his recent retirement to pursue his passion – of building guitars full-time!
Tim is the proprietor of Pit Bull Guitars, and amateur guitar-building enthusiast. So enthusiastic about it in fact, that when Pit Bull Guitars was set to shut down, he bought the whole business in order to carry on the passion, and share it with like-minded people of all experience levels.
Kate is new to guitar building; however she has taught practical skills at a university and vocational level for almost 20 years. She totally understands how beginners feel and is happy to help with all questions. Particularly as she has very recently asked so many herself!
Your ticket includes:
- Six, two hour sessions with an experienced facilitator (classes are limited to six participants) and support facilitators
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE): ear plugs, goggles, gloves and masks
- Use of tools and consumables
- Full set of session notes and detailed instructions
- Pit Bull Guitar ST-1 or ST-1L Kit (RRP $189.95)
- Pit Bull Guitar Building Tool Kit (RRP $144.95)
- Meeting like minded folks keen to build their own guitar, make friends and learn new skills (priceless)
What you need to do:
- Wear sturdy, fully enclosed shoes. No thongs, sandals, court shoes or high heeled shoes
- Wear comfortable, durable and protective clothing – we will be working in a workshop and potentially getting dirty
- Tie your long hair up / back
- Bring water to drink
- Remember your glasses (if you wear them!)
- If you want to take notes, bring a note book and pen

The workshop is conducted over six two-hour sessions on Saturday mornings, from 9:30am – 11:30am
Week 1 – Saturday 3rd October
Week 2 – Saturday 10th October
Week 3- Saturday 17th October
Week 4 – Saturday 24th October
Week 5 – Saturday 31st October
Week 6 – Saturday 7th November
The Fine Print
Age requirements: You must be 18 years or older to attend. Please do not purchase tickets for anyone under 18 at the time the workshop starts. Anyone under 18 attempting to participate on the day will not be allowed to, and their ticket will not be refunded.
Attendance requirements: This workshop is hosted at Pit Bull Guitars Warehouse facilities in Bayswater, Perth, Western Australia.
This particular workshop will be carried out in a modestly sized open area, with no stairs or other barriers, but no other mobility/access aides provided – to review if suitable for those with accessibility requirements, please don’t hesitate to ask about your needs.
Refund options: We understand that things come up; if you have to cancel you will receive a refund, proportional to the notice you give.
21 days (or more) notice you will receive a full refund;
14 – 20 days notice a 50% refund;
5 – 13 days notice a 25% refund.
For those who cancel with 0 – 4 days notice no refund will be applied.
