Bio:
Metok Hughes-Levine is a violinist, composer and improviser living in New York City. She has played violin since the age of six, winning solo competitions in Carnegie Hall and Jordan Hall in Boston. She has also performed internationally in Ukraine as a soloist with the Kiev Orchestra and in Bhutan where she played traditional Bhutanese music in front of 30,000 people. While she was raised playing classical music, she now writes her own music, which has been described as cinematic, evocative and melodic. She creates a unique world and emotional landscape through her music. In addition to being a soloist, Metok’s music has been featured by dance companies, fashion productions, films and performance art.
