Discover new approaches to teaching and learning, share ideas and experiments, and connect with colleagues from across the University.
About this Event

What are people trying, testing, and learning in teaching at the University of Melbourne?

Across the University, educators are experimenting with new approaches, responding to emerging challenges, testing ideas with students, and learning what works, what doesn’t, and what they might try next.

Innovation Hour: New Approaches to Teaching and Learning brings some of those conversations into one room.

Hosted by the Education Innovation Community of Practice and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Community of Practice, the event will feature a series of short presentations from colleagues sharing ideas, experiments, and projects at different stages of development.

You’ll hear about approaches to:

  • AI in teaching, feedback, and assessment
  • Authentic and innovative assessment
  • Student engagement, confidence, and belonging
  • Creative, experiential, and active learning
  • Feedback and making student learning visible
  • Inclusive, interdisciplinary, and culturally informed teaching
  • Practical tools that support educators and students

The presentations are only the starting point. There’ll be plenty of time to meet presenters and other attendees, exchange ideas, offer feedback, and connect with colleagues exploring similar challenges.

Who should attend?

Anyone interested in how teaching and learning is evolving at Melbourne.

You don’t need to be presenting, have a project underway, or consider yourself an ‘innovator’. Come along if you’re curious about what others are trying and want to learn, contribute, or make new connections.

Tuesday 18 November | 10.00 am–12.30 pm
Kwong Lee Dow Building, Level 5, Visual Arts Studios 1 & 2

Places are limited to keep the event small enough for meaningful conversations, so please register early.

Come with questions. Leave with ideas, connections, and perhaps a collaborator or two.
