We are returning to the Raymond and Shelby St intersection on Sunday, Nov 15th (1-3pm) for a World Day of Remembrance memorial and walk. The return is to highlight that this intersection, the interstate ramps, and stretch of Raymond is still dangerous for all road users - especially those walking, biking, and getting to the bus stops.Volunteer Opportunities - https://app.betterunite.com/centralincycling-nov15-worlddayofremembrance
Following a brief memorial with statements from family members who have lost loved ones at this intersection and elsewhere in the City, we will have a group vigil walk along the sidewalks from the Raymond and Shelby St intersection to State Street and back.
There have been additional crashes with fatalities and injuries since we gathered on Raymond St last November, including:
May 2026, State & Raymond - Teenager struck and hospitalized by an SUV driver while on the sidewalk, this was the same corner where the 4-year-old was killed and his father critically injured in 2025
June 2026, Shelby & Raymond - Wheelchair user fatality at the exit ramp near Raymond & Shelby - this was a hit and run
