Join Seattle local and avid photographer on a visual journey through India, seen through both a photographer’s lens and a traveler’s eyes.
India is not simply one destination, it is an extraordinary tapestry of landscapes, cultures, cuisines, religions, festivals, traditions, and ways of life. From the colorful streets and markets of Rajasthan to the spiritual energy of Varanasi, the wildlife of India’s national parks, and the incredible architecture and landscapes throughout the country, the photographic possibilities are endless.
Drawing on her experiences traveling and photographing India, as well as her expertise as a travel advisor, Archana will share how to approach India as a photographer, from deciding where and when to go to planning the logistics that can make the difference between a good trip and an unforgettable photographic experience.
Topics will include:
- Where to go & when: Regions, seasons, festivals, wildlife, and unique photographic opportunities.
- Planning the experience: Transportation, accommodations, guides, and creating an itinerary around photography rather than simply sightseeing.

About Archana Bhat:
Archana Bhat is a professional travel advisor and photographer who lives and works in the Greater Seattle Area, including Seattle and Oak Harbor. Originally born and raised in Bengaluru, India, Archana moved to the USA as a teenager
She caught the travel bug on a year-long backpacking trip to India and Southeast Asia in 1997. Later in 2006, she got into photography when her twins were born, and the spark of travel and photography combined. Nowadays, Archana’s favorite hobbies of travel and photography have turned into commissioned work. She has earned recognition for her photography in winning photo competitions, her writing has been shared in the hiking community, and photos have been published internationally on National Geographic as well as many media outlets in the USA.
Archana is a busy mom and heavily invested in her community, including volunteering as a photo judge for Washington Trails Association for over 10 years. When not out on photography or travel pursuits, she is home with her family, including her favorite rescue mutt – Sigmund
