What if your relationship with your microbiome is about much more than what you eat?
Modern science has given us a fascinating window into the trillions of microorganisms living within and around us, and we are beginning to understand just how deeply they influence digestion, immunity, metabolism, mood, and overall health.
But Eastern medicine has been looking at the human being through a lens of relationship and interconnectedness for thousands of years.
In Ayurveda, the body is understood as a collection of systems such as digestion, elimination, tissues, mind, environment, daily rhythms, food, emotions, and the seasons, that are all part of one living ecosystem.
In this introductory workshop, we’ll explore some of the foundational principles of Eastern medicine and how they change the way we understand health and disease.
We’ll look at:
• The human being as an interconnected ecosystem
• What Ayurveda means by digestion and why it extends far beyond the gut
• The relationship between thoughts, emotions, energetics and food, digestion, elimination, and the microbiome
• How our daily rhythms and environment influence the internal ecosystem
• Why symptoms are viewed as information rather than isolated problems
• What Eastern medicine can teach us about creating the conditions for health
This is an introductory workshop for anyone curious about Ayurveda, Eastern medicine, the microbiome, or a deeper understanding of how the body functions as a whole.
No previous knowledge of Ayurveda is required.
