About this Event

Come learn how to make your own poi! We will be hosting TWO classes. Beginners/first timers are welcome to attend at 5 pm to learn about kalo, it's different parts, and the process of pounding it into poi. Former Board and Stone participants and those who have attended Ku'i 'Ai @KOKA are welcome to come at 6 pm.

Papa and pōhaku ku'i 'ai (poi pounding board and stones) will be available to borrow for those in the 5pm class. Cooked whole kalo will be sold at $5/pound.

To reserve your spot 1). Select a class time, 2). complete the full order form on Eventbrite, and 3). complete purchase of kalo using this link: https://keikiokaaina.myshopify.com/products/koka-kalo

All purchases must be completed through this link prior to the class. If payment for kalo isn't received within two days of Eventbrite registration, we may need to open up that slot so others have a chance to sign-up.

Q: Why are there two sessions?
A: Our parking lot has a limit on how many participants we can have at one time, we also have a limited amount of pōhaku kuʻi ʻai that we can allow participants to borrow.
