Before its release on Director's Notes, the BIFA qualifying short drama with a scifi twist, 'In My Day' will have its premiere at the Curzon Victoria at 6.20pm on Tuesday 7th January, with a Q&A with the film's director William Grave- alongside directors Nicole Pott and Klaas Diersmann, who will be screening the BIFA qualfiying '2K5' and Bafta Qualifying 'A Day in February'.

In the black and white drama with a scifi twist 'In My Day', Asif is in a loving relationship with his young white British girlfriend, Michelle. But, the local far-right skinheads in the city and her parents in the countryside aren’t accepting of him and their relationship. The true reason for their hostility is only revealed at the end.

The film was nominated for 'best drama', 'Best long form short', Best 'Scifi Short', best Romantic Short' and 'Best Cast Ensemble' at the Skiptown International Film festival in LA, 'Best cinematography', 'best international short' and 'best acress in a short' (Lauren Clancey) at the Love & Hope International Film festival in Barcelona, and previously screened at the North East International Film festival and London Lift Off festival.

The film stars established talent like Merelina Kendall (from The Reader, Billy Elliot, 1984) and Hector Bateman-Harden (from the the HBO series The Nevers, ITV's The Larkins & Wes Anderson's Phoenician Scheme), as well as brilliant up and coming talent Omar Hashmi, Lauren Clancey, Julie Wood, Ian Ray-White, Kane Surry, Samuel King, Loren Bow, Matt Hansen. William Grave is a dramedy writer director who seeks to create that not-seen-that-before-moment, while developing stories with universal themes that he hopes will touch audiences across the world. In the last few years, his films have been winning at festivals around the globe with the dark Christmas fairytale ‘The Last Jackolantern’ winning ‘best long form short’ at the Skiptown Playhouse International Film festival in LA and a best ‘director of a short’ award for the same film at the Love & Hope international Film festival in Barcelona, ‘best international short’ at the Tennessee International Indie Film festival for ‘The Last Jackolantern’, where his short documentary ‘Madhero’ also won ‘best foreign documentary’. His short mental health drama short Benchmarks won ‘best short short’ at the London Independent Film Festival. He was interviewed on BBC London radio on the homeless theme within 'The Last Jackolantern' and live on Talk TV news about ‘Benchmarks’. He is in early development on his own feature dramedy ‘The Problem With Happiness’ and co-wrote the coming of age feature ‘Your Son’ which will be directed by Zen Nguyen that is due to go into production in September 2025. We will also be screening and having a Q&A for Nicole Pott's BIFA qualifying '2K5'. In this short drama, 'it's 2005, Ellie and her best friend 4lyf, Zoe, listen to rap music and slam rhymes everyday dreaming of the big stage. But, at twelve, for Ellie, it's easy to be a dreamer and less easy to ignore the harsh realities of school'. The film featured at Midlands Movie Awards,The Romford Film Festival, Sarasota Film Festival, Women X Film Festival, Birmingham Film Festival, LA1 Shorts, Ignite Film Festival, Kinofilm Festival, Sunrise Film Festival.

Nicole is an award-winning director and writer whose 2023 BAFTA-longlisted short WanderLand is in development as a feature. Her notable works include Kaleidoscope, Powerless, and Asphyxiate, with recent films Progeny and 2K5 gaining recognition on the festival circuit. A mentee in the DirectorsUK Inspire Scheme under Jim Loach, Nicole is developing four feature films, including Like Mother, and writes novels under the pseudonym Charlotte Bedgood, beginning with The Dawn of the Lightning Goddess. For our third film, we will be screening and having a Q&A with director Klaas Diersmann's Bafta qualifying 'A Day In February'. In this drama short 'in another country, separated from her family in Ukraine, one phone call is all Galyna has to ensure their safety'.

The director Klaas is an award-winning filmmaker known for his immersive storytelling. He received a Young Director Award at Cannes, with his films screening at Oscar and BAFTA qualifying festivals. Passionate about changing perceptions and raising awareness, his latest film, A Day In February, won Best British Short at the Foyle Film Festival and premiered at Palm Springs Short Fest 2023.
