About this Event
ABOUT THE "IN FRONT OF PEOPLE" WORKSHOP
"In Front of People", or "How to Walk on Stage" is a day-long workshop exploring the deceptively simple act of performing: walking onstage, being looked at, getting nervous, breathing, holding attention, entertaining people, and simply being okay in front of an audience. Participants will move between performing and watching, practicing both how to be in front of people and how to be the people someone else is in front of. Through exercises, experiments, and conversation, we’ll investigate what draws and holds our attention, what we find interesting or entertaining, and what happens in the relationship between performer and audience.
Along the way, we’ll ask bigger questions: What is performance? When does it begin? What are the minimum conditions needed for performance to arise? What is asked of us as performers and as audience members? Part performance training and part laboratory, "In Front of People" is open to everyone from total beginners to highly experienced performers. No particular performance background or discipline is required.
