About this Event
A DAY WORTH KEEPING
Remembrance Day is one of the few days this country still keeps together. It asks something simple of us: that we stop, that we remember, and that we say thank you to people who are owed more than we can repay.
In the week before November 11, the Great Lakes Philharmonic sets aside an evening to mark it. We believe this day deserves more attention, not less, and we intend to help keep the tradition alive in our city. A moment of silence will be observed.
The music we have chosen carries this weight better than words do. Barber's Adagio for Strings — the century's great elegy — and John Williams's Theme from Schindler's List stand at the centre of the evening, and around them a programme of memory and of hope.
Benjamin Britten — Simple Symphony
John Rutter — "O Waly, Waly"
John Williams — Theme from Schindler's List
Samuel Barber — Adagio for Strings
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — "Laudate Dominum"
Gustav Holst — St Paul's Suite, Op. 29

WHAT TO EXPECT
The concert runs approximately sixty minutes, without intermission. The evening includes a moment of silence, so we ask that you arrive in good time. Poppies will be available at the door.
As with every Great Lakes Philharmonic performance, there is no recording, no livestream and no replay. This evening happens once.
GETTING HERE
