About this Event
Join us on Tuesday 3rd of November for the first UK event with globally renowned Emmy award-winning journalist, Middle East expert and the bestselling author of Black Wave, Kim Ghattas, to discuss her new book The Best Kind of American: M**der, War and America’s Undoing in the Middle East.
Kim will be joined by International Editor of the BBC, Jeremy Bowen, who has reported on the Middle East for four decades. Ghattas and Bowen will discuss her gripping investigation into the unsolved 1984 M**der of Malcolm Kerr, president of the American University of Beirut, that Kim tells of in The Best Kind of American. In this extraordinary work of investigative journalism, Ghattas identifies 1980s Beirut as the point of origin for the policies and people that drive events in the Middle East today and uncovers the wider forces behind Lebanon’s conflict.
Do come along to hear two of the most deeply respected journalists on the Middle East today talk through the complex history of Lebanon and the Middle East, the forces that have shaped the region and what the future might hold.
