About this Event
Abstract:
The Next-Gen Aerospace & Electromagnetics workshop brings together global experts to bridge the gap between pioneering aerospace achievements, cutting-edge planetary observation technologies, and modern engineering education. Designed for both industry professionals and students, this session explores the revolutionary mechanics behind the Mars Helicopter Ingenuity, innovations in large antenna technologies for tracking Earth's changing systems, and the shifting pedagogical paradigms required to prepare the next generation of electromagnetic engineers.

Speaker's Bio
Dr. Nacer CHATAT
- Dr. Chatat is an IEEE Fellow and an IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) Distinguished Lecturer. Based at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and Caltech, his work centers on innovative communication architectures, extreme-environment hardware, and advanced antenna development enabling deep-space robotic milestones like the Mars Ingenuity mission.
Dr. Richard E. HODGES
- Dr. Hodges is a Principal Staff Engineer and former Spacecraft Antennas Group Supervisor at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Holding a Ph.D. from UCLA, he has pioneered vital antenna concepts across multiple flagship space missions, including the SweepSAR scanning reflector for NISAR, the JUNO mission radiometer antennas, and deployable mesh reflectors for tracking Earth science.
Prof. Levent SEVGİ
- Prof. Dr. Sevgi is an Emeritus Professor of Electromagnetics at Istanbul Technical University (ITU). He is an IEEE Fellow, Chair of the IEEE AP-S Distinguished Lecturer Program Committee, and recipient of the prestigious IEEE APS Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award. His extensive academic research focuses on radiowave propagation, electromagnetic diffraction modeling, and modernizing engineering curricula.
