Beyond the Pink Ribbon: The Conversations We Don't Usually Have
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That means nearly every one of us will face it, whether as a patient, a caregiver, a friend, or the colleague who doesn't know what to say.
Every October we see the ribbons. What we rarely talk about is what comes after the diagnosis: the career decisions, the money questions, the strain on relationships, and the months and years of survivorship once treatment ends.
Join IAW Washington, DC for an honest evening with women who have lived it, supported it, and worked to change it.
You'll leave knowing how to:
- Act on awareness. Understand your own risk, ask your doctor the right questions, and stay on track with screening.
- Navigate what treatment doesn't cover. Hear candidly how diagnosis affects work, finances, relationships, and identity.
- Show up well. Advocate for yourself, and learn what actually helps when a friend, family member, or coworker is going through it.
