About this Event
Celebrating five decades of IABC Ottawa
For five decades, IABC Ottawa has brought together communications and marketing professionals across Ottawa and the National Capital Region.
On November 18, we’re bringing our community together to celebrate that legacy, learn from each other and connect over the work and ideas shaping our profession today.
The Power of the Profession
As communicators, we spend much of our time helping organizations and leaders show their value. We’re not always as good at doing the same for ourselves.
The Power of the Profession brings together leaders and practitioners including Abby McIntyre, Elliott Gauthier, Kristina Davis and Emily Thorne for a candid conversation about what it means to be a communications professional today. How is our role changing? How do we build trust and influence with senior leaders? And how do we get better at articulating the value of our own work?
Expect different perspectives, real experiences, questions from the room and practical ideas you can take back to your work.
Lessons from the work
Some lessons are best learned from the people who have lived them.
Through a series of short case studies, communications professionals will take us behind the scenes of real work. They’ll share the challenge they faced, the decisions they made, what happened, what they learned and what they would do differently.
Speakers include Vision2Voice Communications, Kayla Isabelle, and Sandra Markus.
Time to connect
Some of the best conversations at an IABC event happen off the stage. We’re making time for that too, with opportunities to meet the speakers, reconnect with familiar faces, make new connections and continue the discussions that start in the room.
During the evening, you can also:
- Celebrate the next generation through the IABC Ottawa Emerging Talent Recognition
- Reconnect with past presidents and leaders who have shaped IABC Ottawa over five decades
- Get a complimentary professional headshot by Dwayne Brown Studio. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, we’ll send you a link to book your time. Only 40 spots are available.
Whether you’ve been part of IABC Ottawa for years, are early in your career, lead a team or work independently, we’d love to have you in the room.
