About the venue: A Belgian-style pub rated 4.3 from more than 4,000 reviews, mid-priced, open 9am to 11:30pm Monday to Thursday. Reviewers consistently praise the mussels and the Belgian beer list, and describe a characterful room on a pedestrian lane — no traffic noise, and outdoor tables that work in good weather. Reservations are advisable at peak times.
Getting there: The venue is on Vulcan Lane, a pedestrianised alley off Queen Street in the Auckland CBD. Waitematā (formerly Britomart) is five minutes' walk and is the city's main transport hub, linking trains, buses and ferries under one roof — so the venue is reachable from across Auckland and the North Shore. CBD parking is expensive; the transport centre is the better option.
