Decisions about your child’s educational services and future plans are made at Planning and Placement Team (PPT) and Section 504 meetings. In this workshop, Attorney David Heuvelman will help you become more informed, prepared, confident, and emotionally self-aware during difficult conversations with school personnel.
You will learn how to:
- Prepare for PPT/504 meetings and identify priorities;
- Communicate concerns clearly and confidently;
- Ask productive questions and participate meaningfully;
- Advocate effectively for your child’s individual needs;
- Understand proposed evaluations, goals, services, and accommodations;
- Respond appropriately when you disagree with school personnel;
- Ensure important concerns are addressed and documented;
- Identify appropriate next steps when agreement cannot be reached; and
- Forge collaborative relationships despite disagreements and competing priorities.
