HONOLULU POETRY SLAMSPOOKY HALLOWEEN EDITION
Thursday, October 29th
Honolulu Poetry Slam is a monthly spoken word poetry competition. The Slam combines poetry and performance with Honolulu’s best poets. Each poet has three minutes to present their original poetry, to be scored by judges chosen from the audience.
You will see Honolulu’s best poets compete for bragging rights and a $100 prize.
Each month, so many amazing poets grace the Slam stage; you can always expect a truly inspiring show.
As if that wasn’t enough, get ready for three amazing guest performances this month!!!
• Jesand Amodo, aka Jehzan Exclusive, is an Oʻahu-born rapper, singer, educator, and content creator. A third-generation Ilocana/Filipina, her latest album, Juicy, dropped in August 1.
• Kimberly Love is a dancer, mover, performer and artist. She performs and teaches a variety of movement practices and holds to the precept that love is the entire point.
• Max Winig is a performer, choreographer, and stage manager from Boston. They recently received their MFA in choreography from UH Manoa!
Musical awesomeness is provided, as always, by DJ WanderLust, a multitalented artist and educator, and the best damn DJ in poetry. Your host and MC is Liam Skilling.
The Slam is held at the Slack Key Lounge in Hawaiian Brian’s at 1680 Kapiolani Blvd on the second floor. Validated parking, food, and drinks!
Come check us out, to listen, to connect, or take the stage yourself.
