About this Event
This Hit Me Up event is open to the public, 21+.
About the Class
Many people dream of living with their partners, friends, or other significant others. And the research backs this up: people are happiest when they are surrounded by people they love and admire.
Despite this, most of these people will end up living alone or in nuclear families. The reason? The legal and financial system is not designed to accommodate co-living outside of marriage and the nuclear family. But just because it's complex doesn't mean it's not possible. In this workshop you will learn how to make a plan to live together. Topics include:
- figuring out who you want to live with
- how to avoid common risks and pitfalls when co-buying
- how to navigate income and wealth inequality
- common legal and financial structures of co-ownership
- how to finance the purchase through a mortgage
- ways of living together that don't involve co-buying and co-owning
- the basics of a co-living agreement
- things you can be doing right now to build community and flourish together
