Preserving historic sites and buildings is a powerful way to protect the experiences and stories that make up a community’s past. Sixty years ago, the National Historic Preservation Act offered a new framework for safeguarding and maintaining these landmarks. Newtown, the heart of which was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places, is taking preservation seriously thanks to strong leadership and community involvement. With ongoing threats to historic resources, now is the time to think about what’s next. Dr. Keys will present ideas from her experience and lead a conversation about opportunities for future historic preservation efforts in Newtown.Presented by Dr. Leslee Keys, PhD, Principal, Keys and Associates, LLC
