HIP-HOP HALLOWEEN BLOCK PARTY
For The Culture Oakland
This Halloween, we’re taking it back to the era of boom boxes, gold chains, fresh fades, iconic videos, and unforgettable music. HIP-HOP HALLOWEEN BLOCK PARTY is a celebration of the artists, fashion, and culture that defined the ’80s and ’90s. Come ready to dance, show off your look, and celebrate with people who know every word when the DJ drops a classic.
The dress-up is a big part of the party, and we strongly encourage everyone to come in ’80s or ’90s hip-hop gear. This is your chance to become your favorite hip-hop or R&B artist for the day. Bring the Run-DMC tracksuit, Kangol, and shell toes. Go for a Slick Rick-inspired eyepatch and layers of gold. Break out a colorful Kwamé look, a Salt-N-Pepa jacket, a TLC-inspired outfit, or a ’90s R&B group look with your friends.
The details make it fun: oversized jerseys, baggy denim, Timberlands, hoop earrings, bucket hats, bright colors, leather jackets, and shades indoors. Recreate an album cover, a music-video outfit, or the style you wore back when these songs first came out. Whether your look is instantly recognizable or your own tribute to the era, show up dressed to be seen.
We’re bringing the block-party energy to For The Culture Oakland for a Halloween celebration built around classic hip-hop, ’90s R&B, great outfits, and a dance floor full of memories. Pick your artist, put your crew together, and come make an entrance.
