About this Event
Join Sligo Bay Catchment Rivers Trust for another Himalayan Balsam Bash as we continue tackling the spread of Himalayan balsam in the Sligo Bay catchment.
Himalayan balsam is an invasive plant that can quickly take over riverbanks and other habitats. By removing it before it sets seed, we can help reduce its spread and protect our native riverside plants and wildlife.

📍 Location: Ardtrasna
Meeting points:
- 9:30am – ATU Sligo for anyone who would like to travel together
- 10:00am – Jordan's Bar for those meeting us at the site
We'll work together removing Himalayan balsam and will provide all the necessary equipment and a quick briefing before we start.
What to bring
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. The site may be wet and muddy, so wellies or sturdy waterproof boots and waterproof clothing are recommended.
Please also bring:
- Water and a packed lunch/snacks
- Suitable outdoor clothing
- Gloves if you have your own, although we will have gloves available
- A change of clothes if you think you'll need one
No previous experience is necessary. Whether you're a regular volunteer or joining us for the first time, everyone is welcome.
