𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐬
𝐇𝐚𝐚𝐠 (he/they) is a professional rope bondage teacher and runs the Ellipsis Rope Events Foundation based in Rotterdam (NL). He has hosted rope events ranging from international workshops to performances, demonstrations, and rope jams since 2013. During this time, he has taught workshops throughout Europe and can often be found teaching at various festivals. Haag is passionate about photography and community work. His tying and teaching styles focus on safety, knowledge- and experience-based improvisation, high-paced tying, dynamic movement, and creativity. He has a very technical approach to rope, complemented by his dance background, psychology studies, and various hobbies that incorporate fine motor skills.

𝐋𝐢𝐞𝐬 has been modelling in rope for over 10 years. She has a professional background in educational psychology and enjoys facilitating models’ understanding and learning processes. She is particularly passionate about the mental connection that can be achieved through rope and by raw, intense emotions. Different ways of experiencing and exploring suffering are an integral part of this. She is also intrigued by the physical challenges posed by rope and by ways to practice dynamic rope as safely as possible. Body awareness and attention to the diversity between bodies are important topics for her.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐡𝐨𝐦?
This workshop is intended for people who have attended rope workshops before and fulfill the requirements listed below. If you enjoy rough body play, active rope, movement, and applying or receiving physical challenges, this might be the workshop for you ;)
Switching is allowed between exercises, provided that both participants fulfill the necessary workshop requirements.
𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭
In this workshop, we will explore how physical intensity, rough handling, and dynamic movement can shape the experience of a rope session. We will consider how pressure, impact, disbalance, and emotional intensity can be introduced while remaining attentive to communication, negotiation, body awareness, and safety.
Through practical exercises, we will investigate how rope can be used not only to create structures, but also to engage with our partners through movement, force, rhythm, and physical engagement. The following topics will be covered throughout the workshop:
𝑃ℎ𝑦𝑠𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 & 𝐸𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑦
Exploring the relationship between physical intensity, emotional response, and the experience of rough handling and dynamic rope. We will discuss physical safety considerations related to nerves, blood flow, and breath restriction, as well as ways to engage responsibly with the fight-or-flight response. Participants will consider how communication, negotiation, and awareness can support intense experiences for both tying partners.
𝑂𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑦𝑖𝑛𝑔
Using more rope than structurally necessary to create emotional impact, compression, physical engagement, and a sense of continuation. Rather than adding structure or serving a specific technical function, the rope itself becomes the activity: tying for the purpose of tying.
𝐼𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑐𝑡 & 𝑅𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝐵𝑜𝑑𝑦 𝐻𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔
Exploring more intense forms of physical handling, impact, pressure, and disbalance while considering communication, body awareness, and the safety of both tying partners. We will show ways of punching and whipping the rope while tying and untying your partner, using these as impactful accents within a tying session.
𝑃𝑢𝑠ℎ & 𝑃𝑢𝑙𝑙
Push and pull techniques can be applied delicately to improve our overall rope application as well as create subtle ways of communication between tying partners. We can however also initiate big and impactful movement to invite some vigor into our tying sessions and play with contrasting emotions in our partners through proximity or distance.
