About this Event
Weather permitting, this is an opportunity to try stargazing from Portholme Meadow. We will be led by Dr. Fred Stephenson , who will bring a telescope but if you have binoculars this will help . We are obviously dependent on clear skies and if it is cloudy then he will be giving an exciting talk on the minor subject of “From Thomas Wright to the James Webb Space Telescope” the discovery of the galaxy, other galaxies and the history of the universe.
Bring waterproof , stout shoes as we will be walking on Portholme in the dark and even if the weather is clear it can be wet underfooot. Please try not to bring a torch as your eyes need to adjust to the night sky and you will be able to see more but if you are worried then please bring along a torch for your own safety and comfort. If you have binoculars or even a Telescope, please bring them along too.
If the weather is inclement the talk will be held in St Mary's Church Hall, next to Huntingdon Bus Station. Details will be sent on the day to ticket holders.
