About this Event
Heatwave Resilience Workshop for Schools
Schools are increasingly facing the challenge of keeping pupils and staff safe during extreme heat. Join Islington Clean Air Parents for a practical workshop exploring how schools can prepare for heatwaves and create healthier, more resilient learning environments.
The workshop will bring together school leaders from across Islington to share experiences, hear from experts and explore practical solutions to overheating — from shading, ventilation and passive cooling to longer-term improvements to school buildings and grounds.
You’ll learn about:
- Practical ways to reduce overheating in classrooms and outdoor spaces
- Passive cooling, shading, ventilation and other climate adaptation measures
- Long-term planning for more resilient school buildings and grounds
- Funding opportunities to support adaptation projects
- Examples of good practice from schools already taking action
Whether your school is already planning for extreme heat or you're just starting to consider the issue, you’ll leave with practical ideas, useful resources and connections with others working on the challenge.
Who is it for?
The workshop is open to representatives from Islington schools, including headteachers, senior leaders, facilities staff and parent governors.
