About this Event
About the Event: Join us this November for our MHA Speaker Series with Devone Scala, Coordinator of Prevention Education, Willow Domestic Violence Center
This interactive workshop will help participants recognize the differences between healthy, unhealthy, and dangerous relationships by exploring common behaviors and red flags. Participants will learn about the spectrum of relationship behaviors, with a focus on self-worth, setting boundaries, and technology-related concerns. The workshop will also provide guidance on how to support someone who discloses that they may be in a dangerous relationship.
About Devone Scala: Devone Scala (she/her) has been a part of the Willow Domestic Violence Team for over five years. Devone has a background in case management and direct care support services. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender Studies from SUNY Brockport. She started her career at Willow supporting survivors of domestic violence at Willow’s emergency shelter. Currently, her position as Manager of Prevention Education includes presenting in area high schools, colleges, and community organizations that want to learn more about domestic violence and how to respond to it.
Through her many years of experience and various roles in the community, she has gained experience working with survivors, understanding trauma, and the impact of dating and domestic violence not only on the individual but on the community as a whole.
When Devone is not educating in the community, you can find her spending time outside with her dog Pepper, cheering on her favorite English football team, or planning her next journey abroad.
