Sperrmüll
Allemagne, 1991, 80 min.
Réalisation : Helke Misselwitz
Dokumentarfilm

Bulky Trash
Sperrmüll
Germany, 1991, 80 min.
Director: Helke Misselwitz
Documentary
East Berlin in the spring of 1989: Enrico "Rizzo" Idzikowski and his three bandmates make music – using discarded things of all sorts as their instruments. For the four young members of 'Sperrmüll' (engl. "bulky waste"), this is the favorite way to ventilate their frustrations. Yet the political shifts in the summer change everything: Enrico's mother is allowed to marry a man from West Berlin and moves in with him. Enrico, however decides to stay in East Berlin and remains skeptical of the Western influences after the fall of the Wall. His band ‘Sperrmüll’ is also gradually drifting apart.
Director Helke Misselwitz accompanies Enrico and his friends in her documentary. Their search for identity relates the story of a whole generation in the wake of historical events that eventually transformed a whole country.
Lost in the 90ies tells the story of Germany in the 1990s, from the myth of reunified Berlin through the upheavals of transformation to the diverse, queer and migrant communities at the end of the decade.
