Join our EducationUSA Pre-Departure Orientation Day 2026 to learn important information about your travel arrangements, adjusting to life in the United States, campus life, and financial planning. Our consular officer and speakers will discuss the student visa regulations, selecting courses, how to develop your research skills, and what to prepare to have a successful academic journey in the United States. The event will also provide opportunities to meet with fellow Vietnamese students and American officers from the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi. The event is free including a tea break.

This presentation will provide an overview of the diversity of U.S. culture and highlight common social norms to help you adjust to life in the United States. Learn about what to expect when you first arrive, tips for navigating your new environment, and how to adapt to culture shock.

Info: While studying in the United States, it is important to maintain your visa status. Your status relates to the purpose, or reason for why you want to come to the United States. The U.S. Department of State issues you your visa based on your intended purpose. International students need to make sure that their student status remains active while studying in the United States. Our Consular Officer will go through the standard process of student visa application, update you on the latest changes regarding our policy and visa fee while providing information on how to maintain your status as international students in the United States. This is also the perfect occasion to ask our Consular Officer questions regarding the visa application procedure.

This presentation covers topics ranging from choosing the courses and your academic advisor, doing research with your professors and building your research skills, building the faculty-student relationship, taking advantage of the available resources on campus to American classroom culture, campus life and funding opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. While this currently sounds impossible, we are here to help you on your first steps to adapting to a new school life. Through this presentation, we will go over packing list and tips, international flights, and arrival logistics in the states. We will also go over phone plans, bank registration and other necessities. There is a Q&A section at the end of this presentation, and we would love to hear from you about your burning questions and experiences.
