About this Event
Printmaking Workshop
Join Sloan and Isaac at the historic Wychwood Barns in Studio 151 for a relaxed, hands-on evening of carving, inking and printing. Over three hours you'll carve your own printing block and pull a set of one-of-a-kind prints to take home.
For beginners and experienced artists
- New to printmaking? Choose from a selection of original North Shore Atelier designs to trace onto your block, and we'll guide you step by step. No drawing experience needed.
- Experienced artist? Bring your own sketch or design from scratch, and we'll help you push further with advanced carving techniques like fine line work, texture and tonal mark-making (like the leopard print below).
What's included
- All tools and materials: carving block, carving tools, ink, rollers and paper
- Guidance from start to finish
- Your carved block and 3 to 5 finished prints to take home

- Ages 12+. Anyone under 18 must attend with a parent or legal guardian
- Want to use your own design? Bring a simple sketch. Bold shapes carve best
- Wear clothes you don't mind getting a little ink on
- Street parking is available nearby
- By TTC: the 512 St Clair streetcar stop is a 3-minute walk from the studio
Your instructors
The class is taught by Sloan and Isaac, artists based out of Wychwood Barns. Isaac runs North Shore Atelier, a fine art studio and print fabrication practice. Follow along on Instagram at @northshore_atelier.
Advanced techniques: a limited edition linocut by Isaac. Experienced artists are welcome to work toward detailed pieces like this, with fine line work, texture and tonal carving.
