About this Event
Get your hands in the clay and make something meaningful for Hanukkah. Learn the basics of hand building as you shape and personalize your own ceramic menorah, then choose from three glaze options to give your creation its finishing touch.
We’ll take care of the glazing and firing, and your finished piece will be ready for pickup on Friday, December 4, just in time for Hanukkah. Pick it up and stick around for our community candle lighting in the atrium at 4:30 pm, where you can light your new menorah for the first time.
DID YOU KNOW?
The menorah we light during Hanukkah has a special name: hanukkiyah. Unlike the seven-branched menorah you may recognize as an ancient Jewish symbol, a hanukkiyah holds nine candles: one for each of Hanukkah’s eight nights, plus the shamash, or helper candle, used to light the others. Technically, you’ll leave the workshop with a handmade hanukkiyah, but you can still proudly call it your new menorah too.
No ceramics experience needed. Come ready to get a little messy, try something new, and create a ritual object you can return to year after year.
Ages 14+ welcome. Space is limited and registration is required.
MAKE A DAY OF IT
