Handcrafted End Grain Cutting Board Workshop
This class runs over two sessions with an overnight glue cure in between: Day 1 is milling and glue-up, Day 2 is flattening, sanding, and finishing.
In this class you will learn:
- How to select hardwood and check it for flaws, grain orientation, and food safety
- How to mill lumber square on the miter saw, table saw, jointer, and planer
- How to glue up and clamp an end-grain panel under even pressure
- How to flatten and sand progressively from 80 grit up to 220
- How to choose and apply a food-safe finish
By the end of class, you'll have your own end-grain walnut and maple cutting board, built by you from raw lumber to a finished piece ready for your kitchen. Once you learn how to make one, you'll be making many!
Please note: It is highly suggested you have completed Intro to Wood Basics and Four Squaring or have equivalent knowledge.
IMPORTANT - Waivers must be signed before start of class! .
🦺 Safety & Dress Code (Required)
For your safety, proper attire is mandatory:
- Closed-toed shoes required — no open-toe or mesh shoes
- No loose sleeves, drawstrings, lanyards, or jewelry — anything that could get caught in rotating machinery
- Long hair tied back
- No gloves — they can get pulled into blades; we'll show you push blocks instead
Dust masks and safety glasses will be provided.
If you are not dressed appropriately, you will not be able to participate in the class and the ticket will not be transferrable nor refundable.
Bring a water bottle! You'll get thirsty!
