A sharp knife is safer, easier to use, and far more enjoyable to work with—and learning to sharpen one by hand is a skill worth having.In this introductory mini workshop, we’ll cover the fundamentals of hand sharpening using a pocket knife or kitchen knife. You’ll learn how to recognize an edge that needs attention, understand sharpening angles, and practice bringing an edge back using traditional hand-sharpening techniques.
Participants are encouraged to bring a pocket knife or kitchen knife to work on. This workshop is designed as a short introduction to the skills covered in our much more in-depth Tool Sharpening & Restoration class, giving you enough knowledge to start understanding and maintaining your own knives at home.
