Join us for our Halloween Kids' Night Walks, where we'll venture out on a fun journey to meet the creepy crawlies and mysterious creatures that emerge in twilight and darkness.
The magical tours are 1.5 hours of fun on mostly flat and easy walking tracks. Our earlier tour takes place before the sun has fully set, making it perfect for younger children who want to enjoy a Halloween adventure without staying up too late. If you're looking for a true after-dark experience, book our Friday 8pm tour.
Encourage your little ones to unleash their inner Halloween spirit and dress up: witches, wizards, and friendly monsters are all welcome! There's even a chance to win prizes for the best kids' costumes.
Halloween Night Tour:
Saturday 31st October 8:00pm
Dare to explore the wilderness of the sanctuary after dark! Your guide will lead you through the eerie sights and sounds of Aotearoa New Zealand’s native forest at night in search of rare and endangered species, including those that only emerge under the cover of darkness. Encounter spooky critters like wētā, glowing glow worms, and the ancient tuatara. Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive kiwi pukupuku. Although their haunting calls may be heard, sightings (while common, at 80%) are never guaranteed!
Dress up in your best Halloween costume (but don’t forget sturdy shoes and warm layers to brave the night!), as there will be prizes for the most frightfully fun outfits and plenty of treats on hand for those brave enough to join us!
