Are you ready to paddle into the dark? Join us for the Halloween Marsh Loop Tour at Grant Narrows Park.This isn't your standard sunny afternoon glide. We're heading out as the sun sets for a spooky, night-time adventure through the marshlands. If you're an Aspiring Adventurer with stronger water confidence, this is your chance to level up your night navigation. Safety is always our baseline, so please note this specific tour requires strong paddling skills and is not for first-time paddlers.
First, The Route: We'll embark on a 6km journey down the lower Pitt River and navigate a 4.5km lazy river return in complete darkness. You'll need solid skills to handle the shadows and narrow passages safely.
Second, Costumes & Board Lights: Embrace the Halloween spirit! We highly encourage paddling in costume and decorating your board with waterproof lights.
Third, Wildlife & Navigation: Experience the unique sounds of nocturnal marsh wildlife.
Crucial gear and logistics for this adventure:
1. Skill Level: Intermediate to Experienced only (not suitable for beginners).
2. Required Lighting: Headlamp (minimum 100 lumens, map light feature preferred) plus a reliable backup light.
3. Cold Water Apparel: You must be dressed for night conditions and prepared to stay warm if you get wet; dry suits, wetsuits, neoprene boots, and layered clothing are essential.
4. Safety Gear: PFD, leash, whistle, and a dry bag with extra layers, snacks, and water.
The tour kicks off on Sunday, October 25th.
Meet us at the Grant Narrows Park grass area at 4:00 PM sharp so we can launch by 4:030 PM.
Registration is $40, and we cap the group at 8 to ensure a safe, tight-knit experience.
