Discover how people documented and studied biodiversity before the invention of cameras through the traditional Japanese art of gyotaku, or fish printing!
In this hands-on workshop, participants will be introduced to different ways of recording biodiversity, from drawings and photographs to preserved specimens. Guided by the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, participants will explore how real specimens help us understand and document the natural world.
Using real specimens from the museum's collection, participants will learn the art of gyotaku and create their own unique prints on a reusable bag provided. Take home your one-of-a-kind creation as a keepsake while discovering the fascinating relationship between art, nature, and scientific documentation.
