Blwyddyn ddiwethaf crëwyd yr artist Lowri Mai cymeriad a “mascot” answyddogol hwyl Calan Gaeau Llyfrgell Bangor a Storiel o’r enw ‘Peni Pwmpen’, Mae Peni wedi bod yn gymeriad amlwg yn Llyfrgell Bangor dros dymor Calan Gaeaf gyda phwrpas o gofleidio arswyd ac ysbrydoli pobol i gofleidio fo gyda hi. Roedd hi hefyd wedi dod drosodd i ddathla gyda Storiel ac roedd hi wedi creu lot o ddiddordeb.
Blwyddyn yma mae'r syniad fydd cyfle i'r ifanc a ifanc ei hysbryd gael creu cymeriadau arswydus ei hunain. Mae Peni'n gymeriad hefyd am dan greu teimlad o gysur i blant ac oedolion sy’n teimlo ychydig yn wahanol, yr ‘spooky kids’ os hoffwch.
Bydd y gweithdy yma yn gyfle i gyflwyno Peni Pwmpen , fydd ‘na chelf wedi’i chreu gyda stori fer Peni Pwmpen i helpu'r plant dod i’w nabod, a fydd y plant yn cael mynd a chopi adra gyda nhw. Gan gydweithio gyda MSparc bydd Modelau 3D wedi argraffu o Peni i’r plant gael paentio fel maen nhw’n meddwl am y cam nesaf.
Mae Peni yn deffro yn Hydref pob blwyddyn, ac mae hi digon unig yn disgwyl am Galan Gaeaf felly misiwn y plant yw creu ffrind i Peni. Fydd y ffrind yn cael i greu allan o glai. Oherwydd fydd y clai angen sychu cyn addurno dwi’n gobeithio bydd y plant wedyn yn bod yn greadigol adra.
Os mae'r ffrind wedi cael i orffen byddwn ni’n creu ‘lolipop’ wedi ysbrydoli gan gymeriad arall y stori, Cath sy’n dod i ddeffro Peni pryd mae Hydref wedi cyrraedd. Mae'r Lolipops wedi ysbrydoli gan hen addurniadau Calan Gaeaf a fydd nhw wedi’ greu allan o ddeunyddiau wedi ail gylchu a ‘masking tape’.
Ariannwyd y gweithdy yma drwy gronfa Gŵyl Amgueddfeydd Cymru
Last year, the artist Lowri Mai created a character and unofficial mascot for the spooky Halloween fun at Bangor Library and Storiel called ‘Peni Pwmpen’. Peni has been a prominent character at Bangor Library throughout the Halloween season, with the aim of embracing spookiness and inspiring people to embrace it with her. She also came over to celebrate with Storiel and had generated a lot of interest. This year, the idea is to give the young and young at heart a chance to create their own spooky characters. Peni is also a character meant to create a sense of comfort for kids and adults who feel a little different, the ‘spooky kids’ if you like. This workshop will be a chance to introduce Peni Pwmpen, with art created alongside a short Peni Pwmpen story to help the children get to know her, and the children will be able to take a copy home with them. In collaboration with MSparc, 3D models of Peni will be printed so the children can paint them as they imagine for the next step.
Peni wakes up every October, and she’s pretty lonely waiting for Halloween, so the kids’ mission is to make a friend for Peni. The friend will be made out of clay. Because the clay needs to dry before decorating, I hope the kids will then get creative at home. Once the friend is finished, we’ll make a ‘lollipop’ inspired by another character from the story, Cath, who wakes Peni up when October arrives. The lollipops are inspired by old Halloween decorations and will be made out of recycled materials and masking tape. This workshop was funded through the Museums Wales Festival fund.
