About Giorgio Serci
Giorgio Serci is an award-winning guitarist, composer, and internationally respected educator, renowned for his clear, practical, and beginner-friendly approach to improvisation, harmony and composition. He is a Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM), Guildford, where he has taught since 2001, and a Professor of Jazz at Royal Holloway University of London. Giorgio has delivered masterclasses at conservatoires across Europe and at the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) conference in Toronto, where he received an award for Outstanding Service to Jazz Education. He has filmed hundreds of lessons for Lick Library and Guitar Interactive Magazine as a Columnist. Alongside his teaching career, he is a recipient of the International Jazz Award at Sant’Anna Arresi Jazz, has released eight albums as a bandleader, and has performed internationally with artists including Basia, Ivan Lins, Katherine Jenkins, Martin Taylor, Sylvain Luc, Antonio Forcione, the LPO and the BBC Concert Orchestra, to name but a few. Giorgio is an established composer and arranger whose work is widely performed and published. He holds a Master’s degree in Composition from the University of Surrey, and his compositions and arrangements are published by Hal Leonard for Trinity College grades and RSL. His music has been performed by leading ensembles and artists including the Bansangu Orchestra, Keld Ensemble, Basia, Sara Dowling, and the Aquarelle Guitar Quartet. Giorgio specializes in making complex musical concepts accessible, helping musicians develop confidence, creativity, and a deeper understanding of improvisation across a wide range of styles.
